SEND

SEND at Milton Court

At Milton Court Primary Academy, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all children, regardless of their individual needs, feel valued and supported. Our approach to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is rooted in high expectations, a broad and balanced curriculum, and a strong sense of community.

Our SEND Ethos and Approach

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. Our SEND provision is built upon:

  • Inclusive, high-quality teaching: All staff are responsible for ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.

  • Targeted support: When necessary, we implement time-limited, evidence-based interventions to address specific areas of need.

  • Personalised provision: For children requiring more intensive support, we develop individualised learning plans and, where appropriate, consider referrals for an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessment.

Arrangements for the admission of pupils with SEND.

At Milton Court, we believe that most children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) can thrive in a mainstream school environment.

All education settings have a legal responsibility to support children so they can reach their full potential and feel included in every aspect of school life. Our school is committed to putting in place the necessary arrangements to meet your child’s individual needs.

For children with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan, school preferences are discussed during the annual review meetings, especially at key transition points (such as moving between phases of education).

If your child is currently undergoing an EHC needs assessment but the plan has not yet been finalised, we recommend that you apply for a school place through the standard admissions process as well. This helps to ensure your child has a school place in case the EHC plan is not agreed in time.
